It is with great sadness that we learnt of the tragic news of the passing of our board member, friend and business representative, Ian Edwards.
Ian has been a member of our Board since his appointment as a Business Representative in late 2020. Ian’s application for that voluntary post summed up his commitment to realising quality and wanting to deliver the best for whatever he was advocating for.
Ian chaired our Rail Steering Committee and was a great contributor to the work of the Western Gateway as we published the Rail Vision 2050 last year, championing this in his business circles and representing the Partnership at events. Ian has contributed to much of the work of the partnership and events led by the Western Gateway over the years, always with great calm, assurance and respect and was a welcome business voice to staff and Board Members for advice and engagement.
Ian is known as a well respected voice of Welsh business and a powerhouse figure in UK hospitality. As CEO of the iconic ICC Wales, he has supported many events for the Western Gateway. Tomorrow we will be hosting our largest event yet at this same venue where we will be paying tribute to his legacy.
We are extremely grateful for the contribution Ian made to our Partnership and his legacy for championing the interests of business and Wales.
We extend our heartfelt sympathies to his family.
