Following the Prime Minister calling a general election last week, the Western Gateway Partnership have taken the decision to reschedule the convention till Thursday 17th October 2024.

Sarah Williams Gardener, Chair of the Western Gateway Partnership, said: “I am very happy to announce our new date for the Convention for the Western Gateway. Whilst this was an unexpected change, this new date provides a great opportunity to show to a future government the best of what our area has to offer.

“Our partnership is ready to show the world how we can work together to grow the UK’s future economy right here in South Wales and Western England. To be part of it, you will need a ticket – if you haven’t secured your place yet, now is the time to do so!”

The Western Gateway is the Pan-Regional Partnership for South Wales and Western England, which brings together local authorities and businesses from St David’s in Pembrokeshire to Swindon in South West England. The Convention will be a launchpad for the partnership’s new “Plan for Sustainable Growth” which will spell out how the area can attract more investment and support innovation across the next 5 years.

Tickets are available on the Western Gateway website.

The event will feature conversations around how the area can create economic growth in a sustainable way, focusing on the themes of net zero energy, connecting communities, boosting investment, cyber and technology and protecting nature.

Official industry and academic partners for the Convention are due to be announced in the next couple of weeks with early speaker announcements to follow by the end of June.

There are still opportunities to exhibit and sponsor this event. Get in touch with the team on secretariat@western-gateway.co.uk if you are interested.
