Severn Edge is a collaboration of industry, academia, communities and political leaders, which champions the development of a low carbon energy campus – fostering innovation in renewable energy, hydrogen and new nuclear technology.

At the heart of the Western Gateway low carbon energy supercluster, with potential for new nuclear, hydrogen and synthetic aviation fuel. Alongside other renewable energy opportunities in the wider Western Gateway energy system including solar, wind and tidal.

Severn Edge is ready to deliver a net zero future while levelling up communities and boosting the economy.

Looking to create a future for two decommissioning nuclear power plants in Oldbury (in South Gloucestershire) and Berkeley (in Gloucestershire), Severn Edge Low Carbon Energy Park has already brought in over £100m of investment from the UK Government and the private sector.

Developed in partnership with local authorities, businesses and land owners, our vision to turn Severn Edge into a low carbon energy park is a bold vision of the future. The Severn Edge low carbon energy park aims to support the development of new skills, high quality jobs and ensure our area is at the forefront of developing new forms of low carbon energy to decarbonise our economy.

It follows a close bid to become home to the UK’s first STEP Fusion powerplant.
