Western Gateway at UKREiiF 2023

Western Gateway at UKREiiF 2023

Earlier in May this year, the Western Gateway hosted a pavilion at the UK’s Real Estate Investment Infrastructure Forum (UKREiiF) in Leeds. The 3-day event brought together the public sector, from every core city and region, alongside Government, investors, funders and developers to showcase the scale of investment opportunities here in the UK.

With local authorities and businesses from across the Cardiff, Gloucestershire, Newport, Swansea, Swindon, the West of England and Wiltshire under one roof – the area was able to demonstrate the huge economic opportunity that sits across the Western Gateway to international leaders.

It featured a packed schedule of speeches and meetings between city leaders and business discussing why the area is set to add £34bn to the UK economy by 2050.

The Western Gateway Pavillion even featured a visit and talk from the Minister for Investment, Lord Johnson, and meetings with international investment companies.  It was a great opportunity for the area’s representatives and leaders to showcase the best of their areas.

We are delighted to announce we will be returning in 2024 to continue to attract investment into our area and showcase South Wales and Western England’s huge potential.

The Western Gateway contributes 6% of the UK’s total economy every year. Despite this, our productivity is lower than the UK average.  By working bringing together local leaders with our great universities and business,  we can work together to bridge this gap and add £34bn to the UK economy.

The Western Gateway is already an international leader in ground-breaking technology, from AI and 5G to quantum computing and robotics. We are home to 14 of the 15 world’s largest aerospace manufacturers, the most advanced cyber cluster in Europe and four of the most research focused universities in the UK.

Innovative, world leading and sustainable, the Western Gateway brings together business, universities and local leaders to work together across the border to build on the area’s potential to deliver for the rest of the UK.

Come along to find out why the Western Gateway area is at the forefront of creating the economies of the future.
